COMMITTEES ASKED FOR COST OF OFFICIAL TRIPS

The presidents of the States of Guernsey's 15 committees and authorities have been asked to reveal the cost of official trips dating back to October 2020.

Deputy Chris Le Tissier has submitted a rule 14 question asking for the price of air fares, hotel bills and other expenses, giving the committees 14 days to respond.

In his request, Mr Le Tissier asked for the costs up until March 2024.

He said: "Transparency and accountability in the use of public funds is essential and is important to me."

Mr Le Tissier added that "despite some assurances in the past by Chief Ministers these have not been followed through and deputies and the public are still left mainly in the dark".

Mr Le Tissier has asked committee presidents if they will ensure they will publish annual reports on the amount spent on offical trips.

They have also been asked for the dates and times of meetings, if deputies had extended the trip for "private/personal reasons" and how much day allowences were.

He has also asked for the costs for civil servants who may have accompanied deputies.
